Today we released the second Technical Preview of System Center 2016. System Center 2016 will continue to speed time to value with new provisioning, monitoring and automation capabilities designed for your software-defined datacenter. Optimized for both traditional management and private cloud environments, we are continually investing and refining System Center to meet our customers’ evolving management needs. To give you an idea of some of the innovation you’ll experience, we’ve put together a snapshot of a few of our favorite new features.

Software-defined datacenter management

  • Support for mixed mode cluster upgrades, enhanced Scale-Out File Server (SOFS) management, and deployment of software-defined networking (SDN) at scale. These features are designed to give customers more agile management tools idea for software-defined infrastructure.

Linux management

  • System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2 includes Desired State Configuration (DSC) support, native SSH support, and improved LAMP stack monitoring to improve your ability to manage your IT across Windows Server and Linux.

Cloud and workload management

  • As our customers embrace the hybrid IT, more and more workloads are moving to the cloud. We are continuing our evolution in powerful new monitoring tools for our enterprise and cloud services including Azure, 0365, as well as key mission critical workloads such as SQL Server and Exchange.

Complements Microsoft Operations Management Suite

  • OMS complements your System Center investment to unleash new management scenarios. As System Center continues to drive faster time to value, OMS extends its capability to deliver a full hybrid management experience across any datacenter or cloud. Integrate with ease, and use the power of your System Center environment to access new management technologies faster.

This list is not a full catalogue of new features in System Center Technical Preview 2, but should give you an idea of how we are evolving the platform to meet new IT management challenges head on.
